A week after receiving injuries following an attack by stray dogs, Wagh Bakri Tea Group executive director Parag Desai passed away on Sunday, October 22, according to reports. He was 49.
According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, Desai was rushed to the private Shelby Hospital after he slipped outside his home in Ahemadabad, trying to ward off street dogs on October 15.
A day later he was shifted to Zydus Hospital for surgery, where he died of brain hemorrhage on October 22, according to the report.
Desai, who was the fourth-generation entrepreneur of the premium tea company, is survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha.
He did his MBA from Long Island University in the US. An expert tea taster and evaluator, Desai headed sales, marketing and export departments for the Wagh Bakri group.
Desai also led the Group’s transformation into Tea Lounges and e-commerce. Besides this, he was also active on industry platforms like the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and international organisations.
