Conan Gray gushed about his best friend and closest confidant, Olivia Rodrigo.
The Heather crooner and Drivers Licence hitmaker became friends through their mutual producer back in during the time of COVID-19 pandemic.
The duo has also shared Sour Tour stage as they sang cover version of Katy Perry’s The One That Away, and had a fan moment at Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball in LA.
During a chat with the People Magazine, as someone close to Rodrigo, Gray opened up about how the singer is like on and off the stage.
“There’s not that much of a difference,” he said. “I think the Olivia that the world loves is very much the Olivia that I love. She’s a great advice giver, and her music is extremely representative of who she is.”
He added, “It’s really fun going to her shows and seeing her on stage and knowing that the world gets to see such a beautiful person.”
Gray also went on to talk about one of the core reasons the two of them share this strong bond.
The two best friends are one of the few Asian – American musicians. Gray, who is half-Japanese and half-white, grew up in Georgetown, Texas, meanwhile, Rodrigo, who is half-Filipina and half-white, was raised in Southern California.
“Any mixed-race person in America is going to have a unique experience to other people, and it’s always nice to have a community and friends.”
He continued, “The internet was my only way of really having people to relate to when it came to growing up as an Asian American.”
As of now, Rodrigo is seemingly taking well deserved break after her GUTS Tour was wrapped in July 2025.
Meanwhile Gray, is busy promoting his new album, Wishbone which was released on August 15.
