Rena Sofer moves out of Los Angeles

Rena Sofer is officially saying goodbye to Los Angeles after calling it home for nearly 35 years.

The General Hospital star, best known for her role as band manager Lois Cerullo, shared the emotional news with fans on Instagram, reflecting on the life she built on the West Coast.

“Yes I’m getting emotional,” she wrote on Aug. 4.

“I had my children in LA, met the man of my dreams and created an incredible life there. I had amazing success in the Biz and made all my lifelong friends who I will miss desperately.”

Sofer, 56, revealed that she and her husband, Sanford Bookstaver, are relocating to New York state. The couple will be making the move with their five dogs.

She shares 20-year-old daughter Avalon Leone Bookstaver with Bookstaver and is also mom to artist Rosabel Rosalind, 28, from her previous marriage to General Hospital costar Wally Kurth.

“Thank you LA for being you,” she added in her heartfelt post. “And now on to quieter and calmer times.”

Despite her big move, a source told E! News on Aug. 7 that “there has not been a conversation about her leaving the show.” This means fans can breathe a little easier about her General Hospital future, for now.

Sofer’s decision comes during a summer of notable cast changes for the long-running soap opera.

Just last month, Kirsten Storms announced she would be taking an extended leave of absence to relocate to Tennessee, adding to the wave of transitions behind the scenes.
