Russia-Ukraine war live updates: Zelensky softens tone on NATO ahead of meeting with Biden

Date:

VILNIUS, Lithuania — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky struck a more conciliatory tone during a joint news conference with NATO’s secretary general, personally thanking Jens Stoltenberg, as well as President Biden, for their support. Zelensky’s comments come a day after he criticized NATO leaders for failing to provide Ukraine with a clear timeline for membership in the alliance. “I can confirm that the results of the summit were good,” Zelensky said Wednesday. “But if there had been an invitation, they would have been ideal.” NATO leaders have focused on securing security guarantees for Ukraine on day two of their annual summit. President Biden is set to meet Zelensky later Wednesday.
