Reuters beat the world in reporting that former U.S. President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to federal criminal charges that he unlawfully kept national-security documents when he left office and lied to officials who sought to recover them. Despite intense competition and a court order prohibiting the use of electronics, Reuters was able to get the news to clients ahead of anyone else by using an open phone line from inside the building.
